WHO SHOULD DO THIS OHS ACT FOR MANAGEMENT TRAINING ?

This course should be done by employees with responsibilities for functions within the workplace that relate to health and safety activities.

WHY IS THIS TRAINING IMPORTANT?

This course provides evidence that persons with health and safety responsibilities in the workplace have been trained on these responsibilities. Attendees will be able to explain the basic principles of relevant current health and safety legislation and the consequences of non-compliance.

BASIC COURSE CONTENTS

This course includes the following important aspects;

Applying occupational health and safety to the workplace.

The implementation and enforcement of selected legislation and other SHE related legislation.

The relationship between legal compliance and system requirements and the legal positions of both employer and employee.

The application of common law principles relating to occupational health and safety in the workplace and how these are described and motivated.

The legal position of both employer and employee with motivations in terms of the common law principles applicable to SHE in the workplace.

The explanation of the law of evidence and the law of civil and criminal procedure and how these are applied.

The application of the principles of the law of delict and the criminal law relevant to accidents that happen in the workplace are explained and applied.

The criminal and/or civil liability negligent party in terms of the principles of the law of delict and/or criminal law are explained and applied.

The legal position of the negligent party in terms of the principles of the law of delict and the criminal law are explained and applied to an accident that occurs in the workplace.

COURSE DETAILS

The course duration is one (1) day.

Training can be conducted:

On-site: for a minimum of ten (10) and maximum of twenty (20) attendees per group.

Public training venue: for less than five (5) attendees per group.

The course programme includes facilitator presentations, readings, individual activities, group discussions and skill application exercises.

TRAINING OUTCOME

Successful attendees will receive a certificate of competence.

ACCREDITATION

OHS Act for Management training is aligned to registered unit standards and is accredited by SAIOSH as meeting the academic requirements for 2 CPD Credits. Attendees will be assessed against the outcomes of the unit standards by completing a knowledge assignment that covers the essential embedded knowledge stipulated in the unit standards, and by compiling a portfolio of evidence that provides proof of their ability to apply the learning to their work situation.
