WHAT IS AN ERGONOMICS BASELINE ASSESSMENT?

This ergonomics baseline assessment is conducted to examine work postures and works station set-ups in the workplace in order to ensure these do not cause any adverse effects on employees through bad postures, straining or excessive repetitive tasks.

The assessment will be conducted in accordance with the Ergonomics Regulations, from which a detailed report is then compiled and submitted with recommendations for resolving or improving any concerns identified.

This ergonomics baseline assessment is aimed at large organisations whose employee count is more than three hundred (300) employees and less than six hundred (600) employees.

WHO NEEDS TO DO THIS?

This ergonomics baseline assessment is intended for all companies who wish to examine work postures and works station set-ups in their workplace or who are required to conduct an ergonomics baseline assessment within their organisation.

WHY IS THIS ERGONOMICS BASELINE ASSESSMENT?

This ergonomics baseline assessment is important because it examines work postures and works station set-ups in the workplace to determine what adverse effects there may be on employees through bad postures, straining or excessive repetitions when conducting tasks. Ergonomics is the study of people in relation to their working environments and examines a number of important aspects, including body movements, the rate at which work is conducted and how well the equipment used by persons is suited to its use.

Often, employees work in environments in which they have to adapt their body posture or movement to the physical situation they are in, resulting in their adoption of bad postures or straining or repetitive actions being practiced and that, over time,  will have adverse effects on their health and well being.

An ergonomics baseline assessment allows the employer to determine and identify bad postures and work practices that may lead to eventual ill-health effects and so resolve any ergonomic concerns that may exist, ensuring that employees are kept healthy and important health and safety legislation is complied with.

BENEFITS OF THIS ERGONOMICS BASELINE ASSESSMENT

By having this ergonomics baseline assessment conducted an organisation will gain the following benefits:

An understanding of the organisation's ergonomic concerns in their workplace and their compliance with legislation.

An understanding of the main ergonomic concerns that the organisation has to resolve or improve upon.

Comprehensive feedback on ergonomic concerns within the workplace and recommendations for any concerns that require resolution.
