GENERAL

The purpose of this reporting and capturing process is to capture data relating to an injury on duty (IOD) that has resulted in an employee sustaining an injury or injuries considered to fall under Section 24 of the OHS Act.

The captured data is then consolidated and reported to the Compensation Commissioner, as required by legislation, on behalf of the employer.

This reporting and capturing of an injury on duty (IOD) applies to IODs that are considered to be Section 24 injuries.

WHO NEEDS TO DO THIS?

This reporting and capturing process is intended for all companies who wish to report any incidents that have occurred within their organisation that have resulted in employees sustaining injuries that have meant less than three (3) days off work (lost work time) and who do not know how to or do not have the resources or time to conduct this reporting and capturing process.

WHY IS THIS REPORTING AND CAPTURING PROCESS IMPORTANT?

This reporting and capturing process is important because legislation requires accidents and incidents that occur in the workplace to be reported. This reporting and capturing process consolidates the incident information and reports it to the Compensation Commissioner on behalf of the user. This provides evidence to an inspector that an incident has been reported by the organisation when an accident or incident has occurred within its workplace, to the Compensation Commissioner.

Furthermore, the proper and complete reporting of the IOD allows the employer to claim back any monies owing from the Compensation Commissioner due to the IOD. Evidence in relation to the reporting of IODs also allows the employer to put forward credible reasons as to why they should receive rebates or discounts on future mandatory submissions to the Compensation Commissioner.

COSTING

This reporting and capturing process is costed per incident reported and captured. For example, if a user requires 3 (three) incidents to be reported and captured, the order should be made for the total number of incidents to be reported and captured:

Three (3) incidents require reporting and capturing = 3.

Cost of order = 3 x cost per incident reported and captured (add this product 3 times in the SafetyShop).
