WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A NAME CHANGE WITH THE WCA?

The purpose of this name change process is to register the legal name change of the employer with Workmen's Compensation in order to ensure that the organisation and its employees are covered under the new legal name in the event of any employees becoming injured or worse during the course of their work duties, as required by legislation. This process is conducted on behalf of the employer.

WHO NEEDS TO DO THIS?

This name change process is intended for all companies who have had their legal company name(s) changed and need the new company name to be registered with Workmen's Compensation.

WHY IS THE CHANGE OF NAME IMPORTANT?

This name change process is important because legislation requires all employers to register any company name change with Workmen's Compensation. In this way, an organisation and its employees continue to be covered for and entitled to compensation in the event of any employees becoming injured or worse during the course of their duties, under this new name. This name change process is conducted on behalf of the user who may not understand the process or have the resources to conduct the process and provides evidence to an inspector that an organisation's new legal name is registered with Workmen's Compensation and is therefore complying with legislation in this respect.

WHAT DOCUMENTATION IS REQUIRED FOR A NAME CHANGE WITH THE WCA?

This name change process requires the following documentation to be submitted:

Company CIPC Registration documentation (old and new documentation)

SARS Tax Clearance Certificate

Certified ID copy of director(s)

Company letterhead requesting the name change

Power of Attorney letter (for SafetyWallet authorisation to act on behalf of the employer)

COSTING

This name change process is costed per name change which means the displayed cost is per company name to be changed. For example, if a user requires 2 (two) company name changes, the order should be made for the total number of name changes:

Name changes require 2(two) to be changed = 2.

Cost of order = 2 x cost per name change (add this product 2 times in the SafetyShop).
